Excessive Force during Delivery

Birth Delivery

Some deliveries can be very difficult and result in birth injuries when the doctor uses excessive force in bringing the baby down the birth canal. Excessive force birth injuries not only affect the baby, but also the mother (strains, fractures, vaginal tears) and could lead to severe and serious long-term complications.

Excessive Force can lead to injuries including:

  • Erb’s palsy
  • Brain damage
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Broken bones
  • Bleeding from the eyes.

Causes of Excessive Force

It is your doctor’s duty to ensure that while moving a delivery along, special care is involved. In a rush to get the baby out, the use of forceps or a vacuum extraction could be improperly handled. Most times, trauma happens to the baby’s head but could also lead to injuries to other parts of the body.

You should speak immediately with the Law Offices of Ronald W. Sage about your birth injury case and learn what your options are. You may be able to recover damages for the losses your child and family have suffered.
